Piano Grooves Volume 1 is a collection of beginner to intermediate piano pieces that reflect the blues and contemporary musical styles, as well as a theory reference for learning chords and chord progressions.
The student should try to establish a constant flowing motion with each piece, that is, to set up a consistent rhythmic groove. All the pieces are short, emphasize repetition and usually in 2 part form, i.e., A/B. After the student has learned a piece it is recommended that a certain amount of improvisation be encouraged within the rhythm or groove established.

Section B of the book includes easy to read graph of scales, theory of chord building, some common chord progressions, and several examples of two-part rhythms. This section has been added to encourage students to experiment with chord progressions and to create their own rhythmic grooves.
